Honor Services to be Held for James F. O'Brien
American Legion to Conduct Services Here Next Sunday.

Memorial services for Pfc. James F. O'Brien, 37, who was killed in action in France June 12, will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday Sept. 3 at the American Legion hall in Akron, under the auspices of the local American Legion post.

Pfc. O'Brien was one of the first Americans to land on the Normandy beachhead on June 6, D-day, as he was a member of the 90th Infantry, one of the first to land on invasion day.

He entered the service of his country on March 21, 1942. He was sent overseas in February, 1944. He was stationed in England until time for the all important invasion arrived.

Pfc. O'Brien had lived in and around Akron for the greater part of his life and will be greatly missed by his friends and relatives here. He answered the call to service willingly and made the supreme sacrifice in support of his convictions. The memorial services are a fitting tribute to his devotion to his country.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. James F. O'Brien, his stepchildren and his foster brother Edward Palmer of Brush.
